Hazel earned her nickname when her ex-boyfriend, expat Brad Deering labeled her a "material girl" in an interview for the local newspaper Al Dia on November 10, 2007. Hazel attracted much attention when Derring gave her his Jaguar luxury car because the brakes did not work well on her own car.
